The HCG Protocol is quite a tricky diet to explain to anyone who hasn’t read about the diet or been exposed to it in anyway…
From previous experience, people just looked at me, their jaws dropping when I stated that I was taking drops (you can do drops, pellets or injections) and only eating 500cal per day… They usually exclaim you can’t survive on that, it’s not good for your body, gasp, the horror of such a diet!! I’ve then gone onto great detail in explaining how the diet actually works, what I eat and giving them a rundown on how I am feeling which is not weak and exhausted as they expect on such a LCD :-).
To be honest I got sick of explaining and validating myself when I last did the HCG Diet so now I’m going to say to people go and visit my blog, it will explain what I’m doing if you are interested!
So anyway if you are new to HCG and want to know all about it, I’m not going to explain it in my own words as you should read it first hand by the Dr who created the diet so you understand it fully and not hearing it second hand from me –
Pounds and Inches by Dr A.T.W Simeons – Dr-Simeons-Pounds-and-Inches-HCG diet for life. This is the original HCG diet protocol and where the diet originated from.
Secondly if you want the diet explained to you in easier, more layman terms then read the Intermountain-HCG-Diet-Guide below is an exert from the guide –
“HCG, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is a hormone produced in women during pregnancy. As soon as the new embryo starts to develop, the mother’s body
begins releasing large amounts of HCG into the bloodstream. Current scientific philosophy believes that HCG helps maintain the pregnancy and the early growth of the fetus. By moving nutrients from the mother’s stored fat supply into the bloodstream, HCG helps ensure that the developing fetus always has an adequate food supply, even when the motheris eating too little.
In the 1950’s, Dr. A.T.W. Simeons discovered that HCG can safely be used as a weight-loss aid in people who are not pregnant. It works for both women and men. He found that HCG moves about 2000 to 3000 calories per day of stored fat into the bloodstream where it becomes available for metabolism. With these additional nutrients in the bloodstream, a person can successfully stay on a very low-calorie diet without experiencing extreme fatigue, weakness, or hunger.
When the HCG diet program is properly followed, the result is rapid weight loss and improved body shape as the body rids itself of excess stored fat. People often lose in a stair-step fashion, that is, they will lose for a few days then stay the same for a day or two, then start losing again, and so on.”
This guide also has a list of foods, amounts and a tracking sheet for you weight-loss each day as well as your body measurements, I’ve stuck mine on the fridge.
However if you do use this guide be aware it’s slightly off protocol with regards to the round length of Phase 2, have a look at what I learned in Day 9 here.
Hope this explains the basics of the diet, of course you will probably still have questions so please feel free to get in touch and ask away, I’ll try and answer or find the answer for you. I do however have a wee disclaimer, I’m just a person like you doing a diet, I in no way am trained in the medical field so please don’t take any advice I give as medical advice, I do not take ownership if you don’t do it right and the results that might happen for not following the diet correctly!! (you will starve yourself if not taking the proper HCG drops/injections/pellets and you will also not loose weight if you do not follow protocol!)
Good luck in starting your HCG Journey!
