HCG Diet – Which Food At What Phase

Here’s a run down on all the allowed foods at each phase. Now as I’ve stated before I’m not an expert this is what I know and what I’m following. From my understanding there are slight differences depending on which HCG product you are using. I have gathered this information from Pounds and Inches.

HCG PHASE 1

This is the easy phase, it’s loading so pretty much a free for all but it is recommended to stay away from too much sugar. Below is a list of good healthy fats that you could load up on –

  • Butter
  • Ghee
  • Coconut Oil
  • Nuts
  • Avocados
  • Eggs
  • High fat proteins
  • High fat diary
  • Nut or Coconut Butter
  • Fatty Fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel, herring, trout, sardines)
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Coconut Cream and also the flesh of the Coconut
  • Salami
  • Mayonnaise

HCG PHASE 2 – VLCD

Things I can eat doing HCG

This is the very low calorie diet stage, 500 calories per day allowed only and from these list of foods as per pounds and inches.

Drinks – Tea, coffee in any quantity without sugar. 1 Tablespoon of milk is allowed in a 24 hour period. It is recommended to have as much, coffee, tea and water as you want and up to 2 liters per day.

The foods below are to be taken twice a day and not together. E.g don’t have x2 proteins together for dinner. You can have the fruit or bread-stick between meals instead of with lunch or dinner but no more than four items listed for lunch and dinner may be eaten at one meal. (E.G you can’t have x2 protein, 1xfruit, 1xcarb, 1xveg)

Protein – 100g of the following – (have twice a day and must be measured when it’s raw)

Veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab or shrimp.  (chicken breast must be removed from bird)

Vegetable – one vegetable only to be chosen from the following – (have twice a day)

Spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.

Carbohydrate – one of the following – (have twice a day)

A Grissini (also called Grissino) or one Melba toast.

Fruit – one of the following – (have twice a day)

Apple, handful of strawberries, an Orange or half of a grapefruit.

Other things allowed –

Stevia or Saccharin

Daily juice of one lemon is allowed for all purposes. Salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram, etc, may be used for seasoning but no oil, butter or dressing.

Vegetarian or people who get an aversion to meat –

3X Egg whites and 1xwhole (counts as a protein portion), 1/2 cup of skimmed cottage cheese. (watch out for hidden sugars and other nasties)

So an example day would be –

  • Breakfast – Coffee with milk and Stevia
  • Snack – Apple & Coffee or Tea
  • Lunch – Chicken and lettuce with mustard and vinegar dressing, Grissini stick cut up like croutons on top.
  • Dinner – Beef, tomato’s, chilli with Grissini crushed and put on top.
  • Dessert – Half a grapefruit with Stevia.

You could track your calories on your phone, I’d recommend an App called MyFitness Pal it’s great. Or if you like me and want it more simple you could follow a plan like the Intermountain guide. (it’s one of last pages and it has cup size as portions for the veges so tomatoes a serve is one cup diced.)

HCG PHASE 3 – STABILIZATION 3 WEEKS

This is the phase that you are to stabilize your new weight and must stay within 2 pounds of the weight reached on the day of the last drops/injections or pellets otherwise you will need to do a steak day.

You are able to eat anything on this phase EXCEPT – Sugar, Starches and artificial sweeteners. It’s also recommended to increase your protein quite a lot so that you don’t develop a protein deficiency. E.g have eggs for breakfast, large steak for lunch, cheese and another meat protein for dinner.

HCG PHASE 4 – LIFE

Phase 4 is the new you and your life or the waiting period to start another round. Here you can introduce sugars, starch’s and sweeteners back into your diet slowly. Full range of food is allowed.
